Obabika Lake Northern Ontario's first Conservation limit lake! Limit means what you can have in your possession, but you can fish, catch and release all day long!!!

What is the cost of fishing licenses?   top

Average Non resident conservation license for 7 days can $21.00

For residents of Ontario can.$ 18.00 for a seasonal conservation license.
 
  

Do you supply fishing rods and reels?   top

Yes, we have rods and reels for you here to use at no extra charge. Our motto is, if you have your own fishing equipment, please bring it; chances are you like yours better than ours, but do not go out and buy equipment just for this trip - if you don't bring any, we have it here for you.
 
  

How many Lodges or cottages are on the lake?   top

Obabika Lodge is the only Lodge on the Lake. There are 6 private cottages on the entire 20 mile long lake. All our portage lakes are exclusive with no building development around.
 
 

How many boats or fisherman are on the lake?   top

Most of the time, you will see no other boats than the guests of Obabika Lodge. Obabika Lake has no other road access to the Lake other than the one to the Lodge.
 
 

How many guests at the lodge?   top

Obabika Lodge can handle a maximum of 20 guests at one time. This is the one of the most loved features of your resort - the privacy and service we can offer to our customers is ultimate.
 
 

Is there a dress code for dinner?   top

Smart, comfortable and casual - after all, you are on holidays.
 
 

Does the lodge have a bar?   top

We are fully licensed and we have a very nice collection of Wines and Spirits. We are happy to have the whole resort licensed which means, we can serve you anywhere in the resort, from the dining room, bar, to the patio, balcony and even in the whirlpool.
 
 

How bad are the Black flies?   top

Yes we do have them and no, we don't get used to them. But the good news is that they are mostly gone by mid to end of May.
 
 

What else is there to do?   top

  • Take a canoe and explore beaver houses and quiet corners of the lake.
  • Hiking trails and trips to the Old growth forest at the north end of the lake are exciting nature explorations.
  • Use our sauna and whirlpool for a couple of relaxing hours.
  • Our games room is equipped with a pool table, shuffleboard, darts and a foosball game.
  • Take a guided day trip for Walley (Pickerel) fishing.

     

What do the fishing boats look like?   top

We use 16 feet Sylvain Seamonster boats with flat floor and 3 swivel seats, life well, depth finder and two-way radio to the lodge. Every year we use brand-new 25 HP electric start Mercury motors.
 
 

Are there any special rules?   top

Our main objective is to have fun. The only real rules are for mealtimes:

Breakfast from 7.30 to 9.00 am
Lunch: 12.00
Dinner starts at 6.45 pm
 
 

What kind of meals do you serve?   top

A la carte breakfast - you can order what you like!

Weather permitting, we serve a shore lunch or barbeque at Sarah's Island.

For dinner we serve four course meals, and at least one six course meal during your stay. Our chefs are very proud to have you with us and only serve you the best in variety and taste. If you have any special dietary needs for health, religious or any other reason, please let us know at the time of your booking and we will gladly have everything prepared for you.
 
 

What do I need to bring?   top

Please bring a smile!

Camera, personal medication, smokes. Binoculars, Light Jacket just to break the wind, good solid pair of shoes. Bathing suit!

You have a fridge in your cottage.
 
 

What kind of weather can I expect?   top

May and June:
Springtime here by us. Days can go from 60-80 F (15-23 C), nights can still go down to 50 F or 10C. Bring for sure a warm jacket for the boat but don't forget there are plenty of hot days.

July and August:
Our summer. From July to August, you can expect temperatures in the 70 to 90 F (20-30 C). Bring a light jacket for windy days as it can cool down fast.

September:
The same as May and June, cool nights but still lovely warm and hot days.

 

Are Pets allowed?   top
Sorry, but we cannot allow any pets to stay at the resort. We do have a big fat cat and a lovely dog that you can pet to carry you over until you get back home to your beloved animal.
